The data logging stomach tag (a) consists of a pop-up archival transmitting (PAT) tag (MK10, Wildlife computers) attached with stainless wire to a tri-axial accelerometer data logger. Additional syntactic foam was attached to achieve positive buoyancy and maintain the antenna above the sea surface. The orientation of the data logger once inside the stomach was unknown; therefore, a primary goal was to calibrate the acceleration data through post-processing to align with the shark’s body (b) as shown
